The BIG News

So I ended off the last post kinda scared about twins. And don't get me wrong, I definitely still have fear, but part of that original fear has been replaced with excitement. I went for my second appointment today and I almost needed it confirmed that it really was true, like the picture with double heads isn't enough. But today when I saw them I was so excited and their little legs and arms were so cute and I was so relieved to see their little hearts beating strong. It's hard for me being pregnant with one at this stage because you can't feel them kicking yet, so it feels like a lifetime between Dr.'s appointments, you just don't know if everything's ok. Now, with 2, it just double's my worries! So I'm 17 weeks right now and measuring at 18 weeks which my Dr. said was good. I have seriously felt like I've been growing at a Bella Swan-like rate, so I was happy to find out I was actually normal!

I should have posted this so long ago, but I recorded Brett's reaction when we told him it was twins. I just couldn't wait until he got home, I felt like this was a burden too heavy to bear alone and I needed someone else to feel the anxiety I was feeling. By the time I got home from my appointment, Brett was almost on his lunch break so I didn't really have time to come up with anything fun. We just called him and said we wanted to meet him for lunch. I told Branson it was a secret and he couldn't say anything to Daddy until he looked at the picture. Two babies was all he could talk about since I told him! When we got to the school, he was like, "Daddy, we have a surprise for you!" So we went into the Activity Center and I handed him the sonogram picture... Watching it makes me laugh, the vein bulging out of the side of his head says it all!

Baby, Baby, Baby, OH!!!

So, we're full of surprises around our house... Surprise #1 - We found out in January we'll be expecting another baby due early September. Was this planned, you ask? No, no it wasn't. It took a bit to wrap our heads around it, but once we were used to the idea, we were super happy! So we were a little nervous as our due date is September 10th and Brett finishes school the end of August. But this should work, right? P.S. if anyone's looking for a Chiropractor, Brett will be needing clients like crazy to get this done - just a little side note. So I asked Branson if he'd like a new brother or sister and his response was, "no, I think we should just keep Spencey". Good call! I'll be so relieved for people to know so I no longer have to pretend to not be super sick and to not have to try to not look pregnant. I've been SO crazy sick this time around, so sick! I was a bit queezy with Branson and Spence, but nothing like this! Here's the sonogram below
Oh yeah, did I mention there was 2??? Today was my first appointment and my Dr. put the thing on my stomach and was like, "your uterus is definitely enlarged", I was like, "does that mean something's wrong or that I'm pregnant?" and he's like, "oh, you're definitely pregnant! You're going to die when you see this". My heart sank, I knew exactly what that meant! We have this thing in our family, as soon as anyone goes for their first appointment, we always ask two questions, "Is everything ok?" and "Was there only one?" My mom is a twin and my sister has twins, so this is our big fear question! I don't want to sound negative about this, we're really just in so much shock right now! I think almost everyone's response today when telling them, says it all, "That's SO exciting, I'm glad it's you and not me!" Does that really mean it's exciting? So it's going to take a few days to absorb I think, and it puts a little more pressure on Brett to get done on time. And on the house selling, finding a job and house at home and all that stuff. Since twins usually come between 36-38 weeks, I'll probably be having them mid-August. We're just going to have to have tons of faith that this is going to work out, because it is SO out of our control. There have been a few things lately that should have somewhat prepared me for this. I said something to Branson the other day about the baby in my tummy and he was like, "I want 2 babies!" I was like, "oh no, we'll just have one at a time". He was like, "no, there's 2". Did he know something we didn't? So anyway, crazy news, I'm exhausted tonight, there's been a lot of emotions running through Brett and I today. Crazy... Do we really think 2 babies can grow in a girl of my size? We'll definitely have to see!

Happy Valentines!

I LOVE Valentines Day! While Brett and I love each other every day, all year long, it's nice to have a special day set aside to be a little extra lovey. I've never been too big into decorating for the day, but thanks to my new BFF, Pinterest, this year was different! I've tried a couple crafts before that I've seen on there and of course, the maker is always like "this is the easiest, can't go wrong craft". They don't know me. I can kill any craft and so far, none of them have been "easy". This one I thought was so cute though, and once it was complete, it gave me new hopes for my craftyiness. I did have to patch a couple spots where my fingers and the crazy glue met the letters, but you can't tell unless you're super close.

I also printed off this super cute printable. The table doesn't look complete, but until I can guarantee my kids won't pull everything off, I don't think I can really do all I'd like to. These survived and the kids didn't even pay attention to them, so we might be getting closer than I think.
These were the cookies that Branson gave out for Valentines. The bags were super cute and 2 cookies fit perfectly inside. I always forget how not fun it is to decorate cookies with Branson. He didn't want icing, he only wanted the sprinkles, which of course, didn't stick to the cookies without any icing... So he'd put a tiny bit of icing on it, then pile it as high as he could with sprinkles. I only let him decorate 2 of them. I know that makes me a bad mom, but the anal side of me could hardly handle it!

The boys

So we had Branson's last basketball game last weekend. It was a good little season of 6 games - pretty much just pure craziness with kids just running at random, but it was fun. It actually got better as their games went on, so it gives me hope for the future. Now Tee-ball starts up this week... And so my life with boys and their sports begins. Here's a video of Branson making his first basket in a game. I pulled my camera out too late, so I pretty much just got him making the shot.

Here's a picture of Branson's little team
They went out to celebrate afterwards with frozen yogurt. It was so cute to listen to the little boys conversation, "I have 5 trophies at home", "well I have 100 trophies". Oh, competitive boys!
This picture is random, but I loved it. Brett pulled the boys around on a blanket for so long the other night. Branson held tightly onto Spence while they giggled and squeeled as Brett whipped them around.

Dentist

So two posts in one day... but I completely forgot about Branson's first Dentist appointment! I may be getting a little excited about this blogging thing, but I seriously have to take pictures of EVERYTHING! And really, who doesn't want to see Branson in a dentist chair... Exactly! No cavities! He was so good in there and came out with so many prizes, he'll definitely want to go back again!

Dr. Hill - Almost!

So today was Brett's first day of clinic. He said it was mostly just orientation and really nothing exciting (thinking I'm a wee bit ridiculous for wanting to post about it), but I'm so proud of him! 6 years of school down, no more classrooms, 1 year left in clinic. It's been a long road, but we're SO close!

You better watch out...

We had a PERFECT Christmas! So much fun with the kids, we loved the whole day. We were lucky enough to get 2 Christmas dinners this year, Christmas Eve at the Jenkins (Parker friends) and Christmas day with Brueckners (friends from our ward). We're so blessed to have friends that have become our family here. We never have to worry about celebrating a holiday on our own! So Christmas...we got up in the morning, opened stockings, then went to church - which was such a nice Christmas program, then came home and opened gifts. Of course I had to change my kids back into their pyjamas for picture purposes, but it was nice to have makeup on while opening gifts for a change! Spence was having so much fun and the first time I pulled out the camera, he looked up at me with a big grin and said, "Eeeese". This would be the picture below.
He hammed it up for the camera for quite a while after that so I took as many pictures as possible. Usually this kid runs as soon as I pull it out!
I just have to post a few of my favorites...
I have so few pictures of Branson looking at the camera. He was so annoyed that I was always like, "Branson, look up and smile". He was way too into the gifts for pictures!
I managed to get a few pictures of the boys in their Christmas ties, this was the best I could get since Spence doesn't stop moving!
Brett is really the most thoughtful gift giver. This is one of the gifts that he got me, it's on Canvas and looks amazing. I love it!!

So I have to add few other highlights over our Christmas break. I'm so glad that I have a digital camera, I seriously take like 50 pictures a day!

I came home from picking up a few last minute Christmas things, to this special little treat. A Christmas book on the couch beside them. I don't know what it is about my children sleeping, but I always need to take pictures of them. I think I love them most when they're sleeping...
Our little Santa helped Daddy deliver Christmas gifts to our Neighbors. We gave them caramel popcorn and the Joy to the World DVD. Hopefully they enjoyed it, Branson LOVED taking them gifts!
With Brett home, I decided to take advantage of some one on one time and take Branson out on our first date. I thought we'd see Happy Feet 2, but he wanted to see the "Chickmunks". This was his first time to the theater and he had so much fun. Of course when it was over and we were walking out he said, "mom, I want to see the penguins". He was so good and such a fun little date!
